the lizzart concept was born in montville on the sunshine coast.

lizi morris, a jazz vocalist who had just retired from performing, took up a paintbrush and started to paint her musician friends in 2002.

a style developed and each painting took on a twist with vibrant colour. the series was taken to exhibition that year featuring each of the portraits. the musicians that posed for the artwork came together and played the instruments featured…the result was an outstanding evening.

from that point, lizzart was born starting in a small store in montville. with only her original artwork, prints and a few bits and pieces on consignment, trading commenced and as time went on the concept expanded into homewares, jewellery or just basically anything that fitted the edgy nature of the idea. “it basically just evolved…there is no credit due for the big picture as there was no big picture. it was born of a love and passion for music and the creativity of being different.”

in 2004, lizi morris took on a financial partner in andy hofer, also an artist and lizzart moved into the huge gallery space at mayfield in montville and took the concept to a new level including other contemporary artwork from artists on the sunshine coast, furniture and stacks of great affordable interesting home pieces…all with great form, shape, quality and even a sense of humor.

melissa sims born in Albany, WA came to the sunshine coast in 2004.
Trained in traditional floristry, Mel's creative and contemporary style blossomed when she combined forces with the lizzart gallery by starting her very own florist - the only one in Montville.

Montville Flowers, by reputation has become incredibly successful, given it's short time of operation from stratch and the success can only be attributed to word of mouth and Melissa's high standard of beautiful and quality creations.

In 2006, Mel bought into the partnership of lizzart gallery and Montville Flowers amalgamated with the contemporary art and homewares store.

This has opened doors on a massive scale for the large 180m2 space, the largest store in Montville's hinterland. Lizi and Mel have now secured exclusivity with some of the Sunshine Coast's most sort after venues for weddings and functions.
